AIDA aims to defend and sustain the provision of assistance and protection to Palestinians in the oPt by supporting AIDA members and external stakeholders to address operational, legal and reputational challenges in order to operate and deliver effective, efficient, and accountable programming.
The General Meeting (General Assembly) is the most important decision making body in AIDA. The General Meeting is conducted once per month in an interactive and participatory way, where Heads of Agencies can meet, discuss, interact, and be informed about latest updates. Upon delegation from the General Assembly, AIDA is governed by an Executive Committee (ExCom). The Executive Committee Members (ECM) are elected by the General Assembly, in principle the Heads of Agencies of their respective organisations, and will hold their posts both as an individual and as representatives of their agencies. They are responsible for the oversight, strategic planning and to monitor the work of the AIDA Secretariat. The ECMs participate on a voluntary basis and in carrying out all of their responsibilities, they must act with full transparency, accountability and refrain from any conflicts of interest.

AIDA has the following Sub-Committees, which hold monthly or quarterly meetings:
Each Sub-Committee is responsible for the development of their ToR, specific objectives and annual work plans, and are accountable to the ExCom and the wider membership. Each Sub-Committee will include one member of the ExCom and be supported by the Secretariat. These Sub-Committees will give regular reports to the ExCom and the general membership, and take major issues or policy positions to the members for decision taking. Non-members may be invited to participate according to the terms of reference of the sub-group. The Sub-Committees shall have video link between West Bank and Gaza, and once every quarter the Sub-Committee will conduct its meeting in Gaza.
